Presentation of the book "They:Live. Exploring student lives through photography, oral history and context-based art"

The book represents an exploration of student life, combining photography, oral history and contextual art to offer a perspective on students' university experiences from the end of World War II to the present day.

The presentation will be led by Maida Gruden and Andrija Stojanović, from the Students’ City Cultural Center (SCCC) of Belgrade, Sonja Dragović, a PhD researcher at the Center for Socioeconomic and Territorial Studies – DIN MIA’CET at the University Institute of Lisbon, and Lorenzo Torres Hortelano, professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the URJC and main editor of the book. In addition, the event will have the participation of Mercedes del Hoyo, Vice-Rector of Community, Campus, Culture and Sports of the Rey Juan Carlos University and Raquel Sardá, Vice-Dean of Campus, Infrastructure and Laboratories of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the URJC.

The book "They:Live. Exploring student lives through photography, oral history and context-based art" published by Tirant lo Blanch, Valencia, España is the final result of the international project “They: Live - Student lives revealed through context-based art practice” which involved the student population to take part in co-creation of contemporary art, by means of using archive materials and taking part in participatory art activities during residential stays of artists in student campuses. The project is supported by “Creative Europe” Programme for Culture and Media.

Besides the project leader - Students’ City Cultural Centre from Belgrade, the partners on the project are the International Centre for Archival Research ICARUS Croatia from Zagreb, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) from Cetinje, the Academy of Applied Arts from Rijeka (APURI) and the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication at the King Juan Carlos University (URJC) from Madrid. The associate partners on the project are the Institute of Art in Context from the Berlin Art University, Centre for Public History from Belgrade and Student Association of the University of Novi Sad.
